Note di degustazione
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes, which is completely de-stemmed, has a very open bouquet of raspberry and crushed strawberry aromas, quite sensual in style. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and firm grip. Slightly chalky toward the finish, which lingers nicely in the mouth. Very fine.

Barrel sample. Les Gamaires and Les Drazey lieux-dits. Next to Bussières. 55-year-old vines. Mid cherry red. He’s been buying the grapes since 2007. He can go into the vines to do green harvest and leaf plucking. He pays for 45 hl/ha even if he reduces the yield. Sweeter and more red-fruited on the nose than the Bourgogne. Not a lot of flesh in the middle but he’s kept the balance. A bit light but it’s gentle and scented. Juicy finish. Not as fun or lively as the Bourgogne. (JH)
