The 2011 Rosé de Saignée Le Creux d'Enfer is a wine that entirely transcends the reputation of the vintage. Exhibiting aromas of raspberries, plums and ripe stone fruits, mingled with notions of rhubarb, almond paste and spices. Medium to full-bodied, vinous and complete, with an ample core of fruit, lively acids and delicate structuring phenolics, it's seamless and sapid, concluding with a long, penetrating finish.

Bouchard's 2011 Blanc de Noirs Creux d'Enfer Rosé is fabulous. Lifted and gracious in the glass, the 2011 offers up a compelling mélange of orange peel, cranberry, autumn leaves, white pepper, blood orange and savory herbs. In 2011, the Creux d'Enfer is intensely aromatic, but also quite restrained next to some of the more overt vintages. The Creux d'Enfer is 100% Pinot Noir, crushed by foot and aged in steel. Like all the Bouchard Champagnes, the Creux d'Enfer is bottled with no fining, filtration and zero dosage. It remains one of the most compelling wines in all of Champagne. Disgorged: April 2015.
