Note di degustazione
Transparent cherry red. Occluded, rather earthy nose with cassis notes. Very pure and fresh with extra weight compared with the Volnay village wine but still very embryonic. Marked acidity with the fruit just starting to fill the frame. A suggestion of something quite mineral. Stony, persistent finish. (JR)

The 2017 Volnay 1er Cru is a blend of Les Pitures and Les Mitans as usual. It has an attractive dark cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet with fine mineralité , though not powerful. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, cohesive dark berry fruit with hints of cola and a dash of spice towards the finish. Excellent. There is a gentle crescendo here that I admire.
A blend of Les Pitures and Mitans, the 2017 Volnay 1er Cru is very pretty, wafting from the glass with notes of blood orange, red cherries and subtle spices. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, taut and chalky, with nice depth at the core, juicy acids and a youthfully firm finish. I suspect this will be supple and satiny by the time it's bottled.
