Note di degustazione
The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a simple nose with clean red fruit but lacks dimension and terroir expression; rather monosyllabic. The palate is medium-bodied with pastille-like red berry fruit, blackcurrant and a hint of cassis. There is fruit here and weight but it does not have the complexity and nuance of a great Grand Cru. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru has a smooth and harmonious bouquet but for me it lacks a bit of cohesion and depth of fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, quite strict and linear. Liger-Belair mentioned that he is trying to get away from rustic tannins, but I still find this coarse on the finish.
0.73 ha (1.8 acres). Cask sample. Mid ruby. Red and black fruits give substantial depth, yet it remains elegant and light-footed despite undergoing 15 punchdowns (even in 2021!). Yes, there is a significant extra charge of tannin and structure, but it’s all in balance and there is a very fine, rich and elegant finish. (MH)
