The 2020 Mercurey Vieilles Vignes wafts from the glass with aromas of cassis, loamy soil, dark chocolate and spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a deep, layered core of fruit that's framed by powdery tannins and lively acids, it's a touch more muscular than the 2019 rendition.

The 2020 Mercurey Vieilles Vignes, taken from tank and racked, has a pretty black cherry and raspberry coulis scented bouquet. Fine definition. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, straightforward, a little rigid on the finish but I like the bitter twist here. Drink over the next 4 to 5 years
