2018 Pommard

Fruit from six parcels, five are on clay lower down and only one on top of the hill. Destemmed. Still has some lees in suspension. Tank sample. Deep cherry red. Highly scented for a Pommard, lovely open dark-red and sweet fruit. Firm tannins but scented red fruit, not as tannic as the Pommard stereotype. Lots of richness and matière , dense but fresh. The fine lees give a slight powdery finish at the moment but it won’t be there when bottled, assures Rossignol. Very long. A superior village wine. (JH)
