The inaugural vintage of this new cuvée for Magnien is the 2021 Côte de Nuits-Villages Queue de Hareng Clos François Thurot, a medium-bodied, supple and fleshy wine evocative of red berries, plums, orange zest and toast oak. Polished and lively, it's already drinking well.

The 2021 Côte de Nuits-Villages Queue de Hareng Clos François Monopole (a bit of a mouthful) is named after a sub lieu-dit , a monopoly of 0.50-heaters of 45-year-old vines. It is aged in 25% new oak. This has an intriguing bouquet, the red fruit infused with subtle gravely scents. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. This is very well balanced with tart red cherries and hints of cassis, moderate depth with a tangy finish. Delightful.
From 50-year-old vines in a monopole, the Clos François Thuron. Bright cherry. Red cherries, strawberry and fuller raspberry. Nice open mouthfeel. Ripe with balanced feisty structure. Moderate depth and length. Good. (MH)
