The 2020 Andremily No. 9 is rich, ample and expansive on the palate. Succulent tannins wrap around a core of dark cherry/plum fruit, crème de cassis, chocolate, rose petal, cinnamon, new leather and cedar. The 2020 shows more overt fruit and textural opulence than the 2021 tasted alongside it. Now with an added year in bottle, the 2020 shows all the qualities I saw when it was a barrel sample. I especially admire its immediacy and lush, inviting personality. (Drink between 2024-2034)

The 2020 Syrah Slide Hill Estate is a bigger, ripe wine compared to the 2021, offering a huge nose of red, blue, and black fruits intermixed with peppery herbs, violets, chocolate-covered orange, and spicy nuances. Full-bodied, deep, opulent, and expansive on the palate, it’s a blockbuster-styled beauty that holds onto a classic Syrah character and has so much to love. It should have 15 years or more of prime drinking.
The 2020 Slide Hill Estate Syrah is the first estate release from Andremily, composed of 95% Syrah and 5% white grapes from 39 planted acres at Slide Hill Vineyard in Edna Valley, which Andremily recently purchased. It was vinified with 30% whole clusters and matured for around 34 months in 80% new French barriques. Bottled August 26 and tasted October 25, it's an incredible wine that opens with a deep well of pure aromas: blueberry, violet and lilac give way to star anise, roasted coffee, sagebrush and botanical tones. The palate is explosive! Highly concentrated and focused, it's defined by its surprising vibrancy and sheer depth of flavor. It has a support of abundant, chocolate-textured tannins and incredible length. This mind-bending Syrah, already incredibly delicious, deserves plenty of bottle time to continue to unfold. Just 200 cases were made, which will be sold as part of a three-bottle box set (price to be determined). Magnums will be sold separately.
