This wine, named in honour of David’s son, Louis Auguste, comes from higher-altitude sites and some of the domaine’s oldest vines (over 55 years in age). In 2021, it’s spicy and lifted – offering a mouthful of pure, crunchy red fruit. It’s fresh and mouth-watering, building to a savoury, smoky finish. Superb value.

Pale garnet. More focus and fruit than many 2021 reds from lesser AOCs. Oak is slightly obvious, so it’s not for purists; but if I were a restaurant buyer, I’d be tempted.
Pretty and ultra-fresh aromas of essence of red pinot fruit serve as an inviting intro to the racy, intense and mineral-driven lighter weight flavors where the mildly lean finish is shaped by bright and firm acidity that isn't drying but it is certainly austere.

Domaine David Duband is based in the village of Chevannes, in the heart of the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits to the west of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The domaine produces wines from 23 prestigious appellations, from Nuits-Saint-Georges to Gevrey-Chambertin.
