Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2027-2060, Neal Martin, Sep 2024

The 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru is utterly seductive on the nose with crystalline red fruit and crushed stone, just pure Pinoté that is not as common in this vintage as others. Delectable. The palate has plenty of pure red fruit on the entry, more citrus-fresh than Camille Giroud's Chambertin, with exquisite balance and filigree tannins. It is very pure and expressive, sensual and refined, with an intellectual aspect that keeps the taste hooked. This is an absorbing Grand Cru that will give long-term pleasure. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Dark-cherry notes. Lovely freshness with a great balance of ripe cherry and berry fruit, high-quality oak, elegant tannins and undoubted class. Not a blockbuster but extremely fine and refined. (AWH)

The 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru has a very pure and intense bouquet with brambly red fruit, crushed stone, blood orange and light rose petal scents. The palate is very harmonious, silky smooth with perfectly judged acidity. This caresses the senses rather than overpowers them, gentle yet insistent and fanning out on the finish that feels very persistent. Superb...but will the Chapelle-Chambertin challenge its supremacy?

A brilliant beautiful glowing mid purple. The bouquet is hauntingly fine and there is such a wave of beautiful ripe fruit with a highlighted floral note. Absolutely not a massive wine but wonderfully nuanced and impeccably balanced. The fine-grained tannins scarcely poke their noses above the parapet and the acidity adds definition while being entirely folded into the fruit. Nicolas knows that they have made a great Chambertin this year. Light menthol at the finish. Tasted: November 2021
