The rare 2016 Corton Grand Cru Blanc wafts from the glass with aromas of green apple, yellow orchard fruit, peaches, pastry cream and white flowers. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and phenolic—structured more like a red wine than a white—with an expansive attack but a taut, chalky finish. Given its format, it could evolve in a very interesting direction in bottle.

(this is 90% from Bressandes as there was no fruit from Les Chaumes in 2016; the fermentation finished in February of 2017, with the malo occurring in June): Very rich aromas of lemon balm and lavender. Fat, silky and sweet, possessing just enough mineral spine to give freshness to the tactile middle palate. A pure expression of soil but smoother than usual for this bottling--more about fat than energy.
The 2016 Corton Blanc Grand Cru, nearly all from Bressandes and augmented with fruit from Les Chaumes, has a rich, honeyed bouquet with curry leaf scents quickly emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous entry. The acidity here is well judged and there is a pleasant nuttiness toward the finish, although it does miss the tension and nerve of previous vintages, indicating that this will be best enjoyed in its youth.
