The 2017 Croix de Beauséjour is powerful, earthy and savory. Dried flowers, tobacco, cedar, menthol and licorice add aromatic nuance to this pleasantly hearty, rustic second wine. I would give the 2017 a year or so in bottle to help soften some of the contours that are present today. This is very nicely done. Tasted two times.

Based on 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Croix de Beausejour is the second wine of Chateau Beausejour (Duffau-Lagarrosse) and reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as classy notes of black raspberries, mulberries, spicy herbs, and dried earth. Nicely textured, medium-bodied, and silky, it stays balanced, has building tannins, and is ideal for drinking over the coming 10-12 years. It tastes just like it should, a mini-Beausejour.
This has a beautiful sense of depth to the aromas with iodine, dark-plum essence, violets and wet stones. The palate has ample flesh and wide, deep tannins flow seamlessly with fresh, redder plums. Grainy, herbal finish. Holds long. Try from 2023.
