Punteggio 88-90/100 · Da bere 2024-2030, Neal Martin, May 2022

The 2021 Le Cygne has an attractive, fresh nose of white linen and citrus fruit and a touch of chamomile and orange blossom. The palate is well balanced with a pleasant fatness on the entry, but there is acidity here, just enough to keep it fresh on the peachy finish. Fine.

Routinely one of the Médoc's finest white wines, the 2021 Le Cygne de Fonréaud exhibits aromas of citrus zest, nectarine, crisp green apple, pastry cream and fresh mint. Medium-bodied, fleshy and incisive, it's taut and nicely concentrated, with lively acids and a saline finish. It's a blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Sémillon and 15% Muscadelle, but the latter doesn't dominate.

This is excellent, with spiralling white flowers giving way to sage, white pepper and citrus, plenty of character and depth and a mouthwatering finish. Good stuff from the Chanfreau owners, Antoine Medeville consultant. One to look out for.
