2018 Clos Vougeot Quartier de Marei Haut

The lieu-dit name has been added to the label for the first time. Their 0.5-ha parcel is at the top end of Clos de Vougeot, opposite Grands Échezeaux. 100% whole bunch. Light to mid greyish red. Inviting, open, peppery nose with a lightly stemmy note. Super-fresh. Sweeter-fruited than I expected on the palate. Gently creamy texture, chocolate-smooth texture but not flavour. There’s a roundness here so that the mouth-watering finish is not so obvious.  (JH)
