Cask sample. Pale crimson. Slightly raw note on the nose and then perfumed – violet cachous? – fruit with quite notable if refined tannins. Lightly gamey and definitely sweet rather than savoury but offering lots of pleasure even if perhaps a little more New World than Burgundy. (JR)
