Note di degustazione
The 2017 Les Chênes de Macquin captures all of the exuberance and intensity that are such a signature of this Saint-Émilion estate. Jammy dark fruit, chocolate, spice, new leather and menthol all race out of the glass. Racy and flamboyant to the core, the Chênes offers terrific immediacy and plenty of near- to medium-term appeal. Although not especially nuanced, the Chênes is boisterous, generous and very easy to like. Tasted two times.

The 2017 Les Chênes de Macquin is the second wine of Chateau Pavie Macquin and checks in as 90% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. A terrific second wine that has a real sense of minerality as well as the style of the grand vin, it reveals a deep purple hue as well as classic notes of cassis, violets, crushed rocks, and damp earth. Medium-bodied, elegant and seamless, with silky tannins, it's not going to make terribly old bones but is a beautiful, elegant wine.
