There are two Condrieu from this great estate. Starting with the 2019 Condrieu La Galopine, it's slightly lighter gold-hued and has a textbook nose of ripe white peach, honeyed apricots, green almonds, and flowers. It shows more richness and depth on the palate, with some classic Condrieu oomph as well as medium to full-bodied richness, beautiful overall balance, and a great finish. It's drinking nicely today and is ideal for enjoying over the coming 2-4 years or so. As with almost all great Condrieu, it's going to shine on the dinner table.

Here’s a wine for those who often find Condrieu too soft and/or rich. I love the ripe-peach and pineapple aromas and the restrained richness (in the context of this appellation that tends to opulence), a hint of grapefruit pith-like bitterness accentuating the impression of freshness. Drink now.

Honeyed citrus and lightly floral overtones appear on the nose of the 2019 Condrieu la Galopine. While full-bodied and plush, this isn't the strongest effort from Delas in recent years, although it does have a nicely silky mouthfeel and a lingering finish.

100% Viognier. Aged on fine lees for around six months after malolactic fermentation. Tasted blind. Full and weighty – creamy and full of ripe peach and pear – a little lift of acidity is very welcome and helps this stay knit together on the rounded finish. (AC)
