Winemaker notes: 2012 was a spectacular vintage. Bettina and Randall chose eight barrels from the vintage and bottled them separately. The Lot series is intended as an homage to the Laurel Glen vintages of the 1990s. Black core with ruby edges. Star bright. Aromatics here are primarily spice-focused with a backdrop of tobacco leaf and a hint of sweet black plum. The palate shifts, opening with sweet black fruits and moving into notes of tobacco leaf through the mid palate. Broad palate entry followed by spice and ferric mineral accents. The finish is quite long carrying fine-grained tannin and well-balanced acidity. This wine will do well with plenty of air upon opening and alongside a bit of food. (ECB)

Earthy, fresh-picked tobacco, crushed rocks with ferric accents and juicy, flavourful notes of black and red fruits, chocolate, and a mix of freshly picked herbs. Plenty to please here with mouth-watering acidity, nicely balanced flavour, good structure, and just a sprinkling of cracked pepper. Succulent tannins and mouthfeel. Delicious. (ECB)
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 44 shows more blueberry and black raspberry, along with cassis, licorice and forest floor. It is full-bodied, opulent, savory and multidimensional. Another terrific and youthful but promising wine, it should evolve for at least two decades.
