Double magnum. See the introduction for a detailed description of this wine. This wine benefitted from an Indian summer, just like 2019. Good freshness of fruit. Grainy texture but smoother than some. One of the most pleasing wines in this vertical tasting. (JR)

Setting off Frank Cornelissen's new line of single vineyard wines is the 2013 Munjebel CS. The "CS" stands stands for Chiusa Spagnolo. This is a gorgeous collection of ancient, romantically twisted alberello vines that makes for a picture-perfect snapshot of Etnean viticulture especially when covered in snow. To my palate, this wine has greater raspberry and cassis definition. It also shows a higher sense of balance compared to some of the other wines in this collection. The finish offers a good sense of mineral linearity and fruit clarity.
Between the contrada of Solicchiata and Passopisciaro, but the wines are always a multi-contrada blend. Cask sample. From 80-year-old vines still on their own rootstocks . Very closed and brooding. Intense red fruit and hints of cumin. Waves of grainy tannins. Very expressive and tannic on the finish. (WS)
