The 2019 Le Moulin has a relatively light bouquet of blackberry and briary scents plus touches of iris petal. The palate is quite hard on the entry and very pinched, with a bitter finish. This Pomerol just feels all over the place.

The 2019 Le Moulin is a dark, hulking Pomerol. Blackberry jam, espresso, bittersweet chocolate and cloves lend quite a bit of brooding intensity. This is a pretty pushed style in terms of its flavor profile, but Le Moulin just needs a bit more depth and greater finesse in its tannin.

Pretty ridiculous heavy, embossed bottle 1,485 g full. From the Querre family and just 2.4 ha of sandy gravel. 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc at low yields aged in new oak with advice from Murielle Andraud-Thunevin and Dr Alain Raynaud, founder of the Grand Cercle. Dense crimson. Very rich and pleasurable with neat balance between the ripe fruit, sufficient freshness and a fine undertow. Shows what you can do with less-than-perfect terroir. Though I strongly disapprove of the bottle. Moderately long. (JR)

An estate that has seen lots of investment over recent years, located on sandy-clay Pomerol soils. The oak is a little dominant, which throws the fruit off balance at first but it settles to show savoury blackcurrant leaf, cassis and silky tannins. Alain Reynaud consultant with Murielle Andraud-Thunevin.
