Lorenzon has exceeded himself with the 2020 Mercurey 1er Cru Champs Martin Rouge, a medium to full-bodied, taut and layered wine evocative of smoky blueberries, plums and exotic spices. Youthfully reserved without being in the least austere, this is an elegant, complete red that will richly reward patience, but don't expect the drama of over-ripeness and new oak young, because it avoids any excess.
