Medium red. Lower-toned aromas of strawberry, underbrush and earth. Sweet but dry; big, broad and very ripe, but showing less lift-and more earthy low tones-than the Moonshine Ranch bottling. A bit subdued for this cuvee at this early stage, with red fruit and earth flavors dominating. Finishes with fairly substantial tannins.

The 2004 Pinot Noir Bondi Home Ranch Water Trough Vineyard reveals aromas and flavors of pomegranate, berries, and spicy, meaty characteristics. The wine is more monolithic than the other cuvees, but medium to full-bodied, and ideal for drinking over the next 5-6 years. This wine had just been bottled when I tasted it, so I suspect my ratings might be somewhat conservative. Before readers inundate the office with questions, the Martinellis were not happy with the Syrah vineyards in 2004 and did not make any wines. (Release date 3/06) Tel.
