The 2021 Château Carbonnieux Blanc is based on 65% Sauvignon Blanc and 35% Sémillon that spent 10 months in barrel before bottling. It’s a bright, juicy, lemon, and green herb-driven white that has bright acidity, good overall mid-palate density, and a clean, crisp finish. It will be incredibly versatile on the dinner table.

The 2021 Carbonnieux Blanc has retained that slightly spicy nose, with touches of lemongrass filtering through its green apple fruit—fine vigor. The palate is well-balanced with a slightly waxy texture, though it is very reductive on the finish, which takes me by surprise. Consequently, this is difficult to fathom out, and I'd rather leave this a couple of years to see how it develops. Tasted from three different bottles.
The 2021 Carbonnieux Blanc comes across as dry, lean and vegetal. I liked it quite a bit more en primeur.
The 2021 Blanc possesses a fresh, delicate bouquet with aromas of white pepper, pear, menthol and herbs. Tense and lively with a moderately weighted palate, it’s elegant with a mouthwatering finish. It’s a blend of 65% Sauvignon Blanc and 35% Sémillon, matured for 10 months on the lees.
