Punteggio 86/100 · Da bere 2025-2034, Neal Martin, Feb 2024

The 2021 Ferran, which was troublesome during en primeur, has a little more composure and no signs of oxidation on the nose. That said, it lacks a bit of complexity and delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a licorice-tinged opening and modest depth, but it doesn't kick on toward the finish and just misses the complexity of other vintages.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Ferran offers peppery notions over a core of black cherries and boysenberries with a hint of garrigue. The palate is light to medium-bodied with good mid-palate weight and a soft texture, finishing fruity.

Dusty plums, dried flowers and cherries, with a touch of cocoa create the nose. Medium-bodied, soft, round and already approachable, the wine has nice textures, along with sweetness to the fruit, but the red berry finish is just a bit short. You can enjoy this on release.

The 2021 Ferran was tasted twice but both samples were oxidized.
