Note di degustazione
Pouring a transparent medium red color, the 2019 Sicilia Nerello Mascalese is also starting to come together with notes of baked cherries, fruit leather, anise, fresh herbs, and dried flowers. Medium-bodied, it has refined tannins along with bright acidity, savory chalky earth, salt, and orange citrus. Drink over the coming 10 years. Albarelli Di Giodo is the sister estate to Giodo in Montalcino and is managed by Carlo Ferrini and his daughter Bianca. I was able to taste three cuvées from this new estate

Richer and less nervy that the 2018. A tad hot – even a little stewed in terms of fruit. (JR)
The Alberelli di Giodo 2019 Sicilia Nerello Mascalese is a wine true to its volcanic roots. This elegant grape variety reveals a tight embroidery of aromas with wild rose, sour cherry, white pepper and campfire ash. The tannins are polished and long, and this deftly made Nerello Mascalese is endowed with plenty of natural freshness and tart berry flavors that drive a long, nuanced finish. This is another super star bottle from winemaker Carlo Ferrini.
Carlo Ferrini’s wonderful Etna wine, from just 1.5ha of grapes situated at 900m above sea level. Pale ruby in col- our, there are floral aromatics on the nose but plenty of structure to the red cherry and cranberry fruit, and this has a serious side to it, with muscular tannins and a real fist of spice. Aged in 500-700litre oak casks, then back in cement vats to finish off the ageing. Bottled unfiltered.
