Note di degustazione
Vines on clayey sand on a bed of Bathonian limestone at 270 m. Vines last planted in 1959. Neither fined nor filtered, rested for three weeks before tasting. Spice and red fruits on the nose – quite aromatic, even at this relatively early stage. But on the palate I don't think I would guess it was a grand cru for it's not desperately concentrated and even in the supposedly ripe year of 2015, the acidity is pretty pronouced. Yes it's 'delicate, elegant, perfumed' as per the accompanying notes, but I think if I'd paid £150 for a bottle of this (the price of the 2012 in Taiwan) I'd be disappointed, I'm afraid. It didn't grow in the glass or the open bottle. Pretty rather than beautiful. (JR)
