Note di degustazione
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Combottes 1er Cru is open and well defined with a delightful and more transparent bouquet of redcurrant, wild strawberry and light rose petal scents. The palate is medium-bodied with quite plush tannins and well-judged acidity. This is very pure with a slightly granular texture, and the backbone toward the finish suggests this has greater longevity than you might presuppose. This is an exquisite Gevrey Premier Cru. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

75% very old vines. Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Fragrant and generous aroma of red fruits with an attractive overlay of stone dust. That same dusty finesse on the palate, the fruit rather delicate and the texture refined, not quite chalky but that impression of stone dust remains. The fruit is secondary to the texture on the palate. Long, fresh, dry finish. (JH)
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Combottes 1er Cru really captures the complexity and intellectual capacity of this propitious Premier Cru with beautifully defined, mineral-driven black fruit, touches of freshly rolled tobacco developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, sweet and candied with blueberry and cassis notes towards the sensual finish. It is a powerful Aux Combottes that just needs to evolve a touch more restraint and Pinoté, though that will develop with cellaring.
