2018 Marsannay Les Longeroies

36 barrels from 1.45 ha (3.6 acres), next to but very different from Clos du Roy. The sunny end of Longeroies and the best, thinks Yann Charlopin. Clay-limestone and no sand. Very aromatic dark-red fruit and a little floral. On the palate, more power and depth with firm but smooth tannins and the oak is eaten here. Chalky finesse and good freshness, compact tannins. (JH)
