Composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Project 18 is deep garnet-purple in color, delivering fragrant underbrush, black truffles and tree bark scents over a core of warm cassis, stewed plums and blackberry pie. Full-bodied, rich and plush, it delivers bags of juicy black fruits with a lively line of freshness and nice long finish. The wine was aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak and has an alcohol of 15.2%. 690 cases were made.

Another head-turning wine from this project, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Project 18 got a handful of expletives in my notes. A plush, sexy, full-bodied 2018 delivering pure dark fruits, hints of menthol and tobacco, a deep, layered texture, and a blockbuster of a finish, it leans into the hedonistic end of the spectrum yet also has balance and class. Drink this brilliant effort over the coming 15-20 years.
The 2018 Project 18 is Lerner's new Bordeaux style blend. Plump, juicy and inviting, the 2018 has so much to offer. Dollops of Merlot and Cabernet Franc work so well here in adding juiciness and aromatic lift to a core of dark fruit, chocolate, and sweet spice flavors. It is a terrific introduction to the range.
