Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2025-2035, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2023

From a three-hectare parcel between Petit Village and Vieux Château Certan, near the village church, comes the 2020 Saint-Pierre (Pomerol), a strong effort that offers up aromas of plums and blackberries mingled with orange rind and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with polished tannins and a gourmand but nicely balanced profile, aging vines and new plantings of Cabernet Franc are delivering impressive quality.

I was thrilled to see the 2020 Château Saint-Pierre (Pomerol) show so well as it comes from a terrific terroir and has been a touch erratic in the past (although it's always good). A blend of 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc from vines near Vieux Château Certan and Le Pin, it has a beautiful perfume of darker cherries, currants, chocolate, earthy tobacco, and loamy soil. This carries to a medium to full-bodied Pomerol with fine, polished tannins, a layered, balanced mouthfeel, and a great finish. It's a beautiful 2020 that readers will love. It should evolve for 15 years if well-stored.

The 2020 Saint-Pierre (Pomerol) is a powerful, virile wine endowed with terrific depth and tons of character. Super-ripe dark plum, gravel, chocolate, incense and licorice meld together in this plush, explosive Pomerol. There's plenty of tannin, but very good balance as well.

Old school classic Pomerol, well held in bilberry and cassis fruit with punch and character. Full tannic hold right now, ageing potential, bitter on the finish.
