Incense, licorice, smoke, roses, cherries and chocolate aromas open the nose. On the palate, the wine is rich, supple, creamy and luscious with layers of chocolate-coated, ripe, dark plums. The finish is long, fresh and deep, leaving you with espresso-tinted black cherries, chocolate and black plums that linger. Drink from 2024-2045.

I loved the 2020 Château Maillet, a richer, concentrated, focused Pomerol with terrific density and depth. Black cherries, smoked darker currants, chocolate, and leafy tobacco are just some of its nuances, and it's medium to full-bodied, with plenty of background oak and a great finish. It’s brilliant juice, but it needs at least 4-6 years of bottle age.
This has a perfumed nose of sandalwood, lavender, blackcurrants, cassis, star anise and black olives. Full-bodied, velvety and creamy, with bright acidity to complement the ripe layers of black and blue fruit. Seamless tannins. Try after 2025.
The 2020 Maillet is a powerful, explosive Pomerol. Black cherry, plum, licorice, chocolate and cloves are all dialed up in this sumptuous, flamboyant 2020. Maillet is not subtle, but it packs plenty of punch and is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
