Tasted blind. Deep crimson. Toasty suggestion of oak over the black fruit. A bit green overall and the tannins dry on the finish. Chewy. (JH)

The 2020 Lanessan has a light, reticent nose with notes of forest floor, earthenware and a bit of dustiness at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied and slightly chewy in texture with sapid red fruit and moderate depth. It becomes spicier toward the finish but doesn't quite escape the feeling of rusticity compared to its peers. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
The 2020 Lanessan has a very attractive nose, more floral than its fellow Haut-Médocs, focused and tensile with blackberry, pencil lead and light mint aromas. The palate is medium-bodied fresh and vibrant. Graphite and a dab of black pepper towards the persistent finish. This is a fine 2020 from the recently-sold estate.
