Punteggio 94/100 · Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider, Mar 2023

Savory plums, crushed rocks, licorice, black cherry, smoke, and, and flowers come through in the nose with little effort. Round, plush, and polished, the finish is focused on its silky textures, sweet red fruits, chocolate, and the array of spices that show up in the mildly chalky endnote. This is already delicious, but it will be even better with a few years of age. Drink from 2024-2045.

Pretty red, blue, and black fruits as well as spice, leather, camphor, and dried flower notes all emerge from the 2020 Château La Confession, a beautifully perfumed, elegant, seamless 2020 with ripe, mouth-coating tannins, plnety of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. Give bottles 2-4 years and enjoy over the following 15.

This shows notes of ripe berries, savory herbs, pine cones, nut shell and overturned earth. Full body. Deep and intense with a compact core of dark fruit sitting on a bed of polished velvety tannins with great length. Lingering, chocolaty finish. Try after 2026.

An attractive 7ha estate owned by Jean Philippe Janoueix, located in the Clos Fourtet/Grands Murailles sector of St Emilion. Smoked caramel, gourmet-edged cocoa bean and espresso, black cherry, with plenty of character although you can feel the evident hand of winemaking at this point, suggest giving another few years in bottle to really allow the structure to melt further. 37hl/ha yields.
