65% Sémillon, 35% Sauvignon Blanc. Pale straw. Heady and floral and a little loose-textured. Just the merest hint of oiliness. But fun for early drinking! Even if it could probably do with a little more acidity. (JR)

Tasted blind. Pineapple and exotic fruit rather than botrytis aromas. Simple, creamy, gentle. Could come from just about anywhere. Fresh sweet fruits. (JH)
The 2020 Guiraud has an opulent bouquet with wild honey and pressed white flowers, lightly spiced with a touch of lemongrass. The palate is well balanced with wild honey and orange rind. It needs a tad more acidity to impart more "bite" on the finish, so there is a nagging sense of conservatism that just pegs my score down. Even so, this remains one of the highlights of the horizontal. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
65% Sémillon, 35% Sauvignon Blanc. Pale to mid gold, less aromatically fruity than the 2019, less open. But riper fruited on the palate with a hint of pineapple as well as apricots. Tastes very sweet indeed and lacks the balance of 2019. The acidity is not lacking but doesn't seem to cut through the sweetness. Juicy, fruity but too exclusively sweet for my taste. (JH)
