Punteggio 16/20 · Da bere 2025-2032, Jancis Robinson MW, Nov 2023

Cru bourgeois supérieur. 52% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot, on quaternary gravel. Yield 50 hl/ha. Aged for 15 months in barrels, 50% new and 50% second use. 72,000 bottles. Solid, well behaved but without massive energy. And it’s a bit stodgier than classic perfumed Margaux. Correct and it should have more ageing potential than many other crus bourgeois. (JR)

Dark brambled fruits, impressively supple tannins, the oak influence is a little evident in its addition of smoke and a tight character through the mid palate, but this offers plenty of bang for your buck, and is highly enjoyable. 50% new oak, owned by the Sorge family, located in the commune of Soussans.

Full bottle 1,315 g. Certified HVE. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot. Blackberry, violets and chalky coarse-ground-pepper-textured tannins. Really chewy, with a mineral dustiness coursing through its ripe black-fruited veins. Bay-leaf scented finish. (TC)

The ruby/plum-hued 2020 Château Deyrem Valentin offers up a solid, complex, yet understated nose of redcurrants, sandalwood, chocolaty herbs, and Asian spices. These carry to a medium-bodied Margaux with supple, elegant tannins, terrific balance, and a great finish. I love its overall balance, and this will benefit from just a couple years in the cellar and keep for 15 years. It's a high-quality wine.
