La Fleur-Pétrus shows a great spectrum of aromas – with earthy, mineral tones entwined with lovely dry toasted spice, hints of coffee, milk chocolate and scented floral notes. It is captivating. The palate is wonderfully fresh, juicy and dense, with lovely fine tannins of great detail, sinewy and layered. There is a charming crunch of freshness too, while remaining creamy and opulent. This wine has great depth and exceptional balance. The blend is 93% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.

Tasted blind. Black core. Both ripe and slightly leafy. Rich, plush, dense and still fresh on the long finish. Polished to reveal the fruit behind all that oak. A hint of black olive on the aftertaste. (JH)
The 2020 La Fleur Pétrus has a wonderfully precise and focused bouquet with vivacious black fruit, crushed stone and subtle violet scents. The oak is seamlessly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, almost Left Bank in style thanks to a seam of graphite. It's complex and engaging, maintaining cohesion and persistence on the finish. This is a superb Pomerol. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Château La Fleur-Pétrus was the first acquisition of many in Pomerol by Jean Pierre Moueix, who went on to own Château Trotanoy, Château Hosanna and most notably Pétrus. Jean Pierre Moueix was born in Corèzze in moved to Saint-Émilion with his parent in 1929 following the Great Depression.
