Less than 1 ha. Mostly clay soils and just below Malconsorts, very close to La Tâche. 100% whole bunch. Darker (than Nuits-St-Georges Les Procès just tasted) but translucent cherry, darker hue rather than more saturated. Deeper and darker fruited on the nose than anything tasted so far. Firmer, a little more chewy tannins but that’s relative to the style of this house. In absolute terms they are so smooth and silky, with the finest of grain. Delicate, such fine texture. Juicy and long. Moreish, satisfying, complete. Perfect harmony. (JH)

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes wafts from the glass with an inviting bouquet of peonies, sweet red berries, orange rind, raw cocoa and spices. Medium to full-bodied, pretty and expressive, the wine is lively and charming on the palate, with a delicate core of perfumed fruit and melting tannins, concluding with a long and precise finish.
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru has a winsome bouquet of perfumed raspberry, crushed strawberry and rose petal aromas that boast exquisite delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, vibrant red and black fruit and a very linear, vivid finish that conveys a sense of coiled energy. Superb.
