Punteggio 93-95/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2021

Burgundy's smallest red cuvée, the 2019 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru is as charming as always, soaring from the glass with scents of cherries, orange rind, raspberries, raw cocoa and cinnamon. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's open-knit and sensual, with lively acids, melting tannins and a long, perfumed finish.

Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2024-2050, Neal Martin, Dec 2020

The 2019 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru is represented by a grand total of 84 liters this year, minus my own tasting sample. It includes 100% whole bunch, as usual, with the central stem meticulously removed over five hours à la Leroy or Mortet. This was the first vintage vinified in a small vat where Pierre can control the temperature. It has a spellbinding, crystalline floral/mineral bouquet of red berry fruit laced with sous-bois and touches of tea leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, lithe and sensual, with touches of spice. Maybe the Clos-de-Bèze has a little more nobility, yet this remains a wonderful Griottes, even if virtually impossible to find.

192 sq m, just under 2 ares – the smallest holding in Burgundy, they claim. 100% whole bunch. Foot-trodden by the (pre-school) kids. 2011 was the first year this was officially produced. In 2019 there were 86 litres, or 110 bottles. Fermented in a large cask and then aged in two-thirds of a feuillette. Tank sample. On the nose it’s pretty intense, high-flown, with bitter-cherry notes. The wine is convincing with lots of fruit and then tannins more in evidence than in many of their wines. Then it finishes a bit suddenly. (JR)
