Note di degustazione
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques is lovely, bursting with scents of raspberries, spices, plums and petals. Medium to full-bodied, layered and nicely concentrated, with tangy acids and powdery tannins, it displays fine mid-palate amplitude and concludes with a long, saline finish.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Estournelles Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a beguiling nose of vibrant red berries mixed with undergrowth and wilted rose petal aromas. It blossoms in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very lithe tannins and perfectly pitched acidity. Silky-smooth in texture, this fans out wonderfully on the finish and feels very persistent. Just a beautiful wine.
From a steep plot north-west of Clos St-Jacques that is quite warm because of all the rocks but windy enough to keep the vines healthy. On the south-facing slope of the Combe Lavaux it is warm enough that you find plants that grow in southern France. 20% whole bunch. Tank sample. Intense, concentrated nose with quite marked acidity on the palate. This should develop into a pretty wine. (JR)
