The Bourgogne Côte d'Or comes from a patch of old vines planted in 1975 that borders the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. These mature vines produce an exceptionally rich Bourgogne Blanc and, with 2019’s low yields (more than 50% below average), the wine is even more concentrated – with richness, weight and complexity that really over-delivers for its classification. Pale gold in colour, the 2019 Bourgogne Côte d’Or is one of the most concentrated examples in recent years. Yields are always low with almost 50-year-old vines (all in Puligny), but in 2019 the crop was even smaller. The result is a very perfumed and exuberant nose of white peach, delicate flowers and citrus notes. On the palate, it builds gradually with a rich, complex mouth-feel, with stone fruit, wet stone and almost creamy aromas. The acidity kicks in on the mid-palate, revealing a tangy lemon note reminiscent of caviar limes. The finish is pure and fresh, offering superb length for its level. This should be approachable straight away and evolve nicely for three to five years.

Ripe aromas are comprised by apple and pear compote along with wisps of acacia blossom. The delicious, plump and delicious flavors are rich to the point of opulence though there is better than average depth and persistence on the slightly warm finish. This is worth considering. (Heart - Outstanding top value)

The 2019 Bourgogne Chardonnay Côte d'Or offers up notions of smoky peach, apple and fresh bread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, round and fleshy palate that's charming and open-knit.
