Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2020-2035, Neal Martin, Mar 2019

The 2014 Morey-Saint-Denis Aux Cheseaux 1er Cru has a crisp and focused bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit laced with minerals and that oyster shell tincture that was evident in barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannin, crisp acidity, a little more grip than the Les Millandes. A graphite-tinged, quite firm finish will require three or four more years in bottle to soften. Very fine. Tasted at Flint Wines’ Arlaud retrospective.

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2018-2030, The Wine Advocate, Sep 2017

The 2014 Morey St Denis 1er Cru Aux Chezeaux has a crisp bouquet: fresh strawberry and Morello, a touch of oyster shell in the background, though very tight and backward despite aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. There is good depth here, gentle grip in the mouth with sappy black fruit on the grainy, slightly firm finish.

Sweet and round but sample lacks a bit of freshness and character. (JR)

Healthy dark red. Lower-pitched on the nose than the Blanchards owing to an element of musky reduction. Smooth and rich but much less forthcoming than the Blanchards despite possessing a thicker texture. This wine will rely more on its sizable tannic structure than on its acidity for longevity. This parcel, located in a cold terroir close to Mazoyères, was picked six days later than the Blanchards and Millandes. Just a touch dry on the back end in the early going.
