Punteggio 16/20 · Da bere 2024-2030, Tim Jackson MW, jancisrobinson.com, Jan 2020

Nielsen began Le Grappin while at Simon Bize, when Andrew saw that Savigny had different characters in different plots, so wanted to make wine from single-vineyard plots, to be different from Simon Bize. This plot is adjacent to Pernand and Aloxe, having some of their character, alongside a ‘Savigny-ness’. 95% whole bunches for freshness, with the base of the ferment destemmed. No pigeage. No SO2 or additives during fermentation. Looking for aromatics to lead the wine. Bottled. Funky and wild, with a ‘naturalness’. Black fruit and whole-bunch herbal scent. Peppery tannins and more stem-herbal tones. Red cherry and a perfumed, long finish. Could evolve interestingly. (TJ)
