Good deep red. Red fruits, minerals, mint, licorice and a whiff of resin on the nose; also oakier than the Clos de la Roche. Quite velvety in the middle, conveying a solid spice character but less nuance than the Clos de la Roche. Finishes with a slight youthful dryness.

The 2010 Charmes-Chambertin (from a parcel in Mazoyeres) bursts from the glass with freshly cut flowers, spices, mint and licorice. The aromas and flavors here are beautifully pointed and nuanced. The 2010 boasts striking inner perfume all the way through to the enveloping seductive, finish. Frederic Magnien reports 80% of this parcel ripened with shot berries. Red-ruby. Smoky aromas of black cherry, wild herbs and licorice. Fat, lush and sweet but quite reduced, showing atypical volume for 2010. A very ripe Charmes-Chambertin that could use a bit more mid-palate flavor definition. Finishes with very sweet, fine tannins. Just this side of too much.
