Earthier and deeper-pitched than the Guenchers that preceded it in our tasting, Fourrier's 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos Sorbé exhibits scents of ripe cherries and blackberries mingled with rich soil tones and spices. Medium to full-bodied, it's firmer and richer too.

The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Sorbés 1er Cru possesses one of the best aromatics from Fourrier this year, offering intense blueberry and blackberry fruit laced with minerals, direct and very sensual. The detailed, precise palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins and tangible tension on the pixelated finish. This is one of the finest Clos Sorbés I have encountered from Fourrier.

Domaine Fourrier is located in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate has been run by Jean-Marie Fourrier since 1994, and has rapidly become one of the village’s most fashionable names, known for producing pure and transparent Pinot Noir.
