Da bere 2021-2028, FINE+RARE, Aug 2021

Le Grappin’s Beaune Grèves is made with the only parcel of Chardonnay in the Premier Cru site better known for its Pinot Noir. While still retaining its focused and precise mineral notes on the nose, the 2018 is now fantastically open and pronounced with perfectly ripe, golden fruit (apricots, Golden Delicious apples, a touch of passion fruit, sweet pomelo and lemon peel). These mingle with delicate spice (ginger and lemongrass) and a subtle smoky streak that offsets the freshness of the bouquet. On the palate, it is at once tense and luscious with breadth and poise and a caressing, creamy mouthfeel. Very drinkable indeed!

An intriguing nose of nuttiness, stones and celery seed, with a rich creamy undertow – really distinctive. Focused and tense, with a wall of stoniness backed-up by fine acidity. Long and minerally.
