(the Ligniers do not do the harvest here; made from 50-year-old vines; 100% destemmed): Healthy full red. Pungent aromas of purple fruits, menthol and crushed rock. Quite pliant on entry, then precise and perfumed in the middle palate, showing noteworthy energy and lift to its flavors of small wild red fruits, minerals and spices. Not a particularly tannic wine but juicy, refined and long.

The 2016 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru, which debuted back in 2014, comes from purchased grapes, although it is Laurent Lignier himself who does the harvest. It has a lifted bouquet with blackberry, bilberry and a light marine influence, less extroverted than last year's Griotte, more strict and correct. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite masculine in style with good structure toward the finish that just tapers in a little prematurely. Fine.
Made since 2014. No whole bunch because he didn’t grow the grapes. Bought as grapes and Laurent Lignier makes it. Shared between Laurent Ponsot and Dom René Leclerc. Pale crimson. Relatively light and racy. Very energetic and dry on the end. Masses of taffeta texture. Dry and lively. Really lifted and fresh. Not big! (JR)
