The 2015 Pinot Noir is the first vintage of Nicolas Jay made by associate winemaker Tracy Kendall. It's finely detailed and expressive at this stage of evolution, balancing ripe red cherry fruit with nuances of Angostura bitters, mushrooms, dried roses and leather. The medium-bodied palate is plush and inviting with concentrated, nuanced flavors. It's balanced by vibrant acidity, and it has a long, layered finish. It's drinking beautifully now, but it has plenty of life ahead.

Pale ruby. Meaty and a bit muted on the nose. The palate is iron and sanguine and intensely earthy and cedary. Really lovely, intense blast of flavour on the palate but not the longest finish. Fading a bit. Drink it soon! (SCJ)
The 2015 Pinot Noir Red Vinyl is pale to medium ruby-purple with dried cranberries and red cherries on the nose with touches of cinnamon stick, dried leaves and potpourri. Light to medium-bodied, it gives bright, juicy red fruits in the mouth with spicy/earthy touches, fine, grainy tannins and great juicy acidity, finishing long with sweet fruits. 500 cases produced.
Combines only-just-ripe cranberry fruit with glossy oak scent and lots of violet aromas too. Black cherry on the palate – big fruit intensity, but not at the expense of aromatic complexity. Lots of ageing potential. (RH)
