The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Steltzner Vineyard comes from the southern end of this Stags Leap Vineyard and shows a more perfumed, complex, elegant style. Lots of cassis fruits, notes of candied violets, and tons of spice all dominate the bouquet, and it has light tannins, medium to full body, and a great finish. It’s another beautiful wine from Smith that will evolve for two decades or more.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Steltzner Vineyard shows just how pedigreed this Stags Leap site is. Creamy, ample and wonderfully inviting, the Steltzner is a Cabernet of total allure. Crème de cassis, licorice, lavender, plum and spice build in a beautifully textured, vivid Cabernet that hits all the right notes.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Steltzner Vineyard gives prunes, blueberry pie, dried mulberries and crème de cassis on the nose with notes of coffee grounds, stewed tea, cigars, dusty soil and hoisin. The palate is full-bodied, firm and chewy with baked berry flavors, finishing long and a little firm.
