The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice is built on attractive aromatics and mid-weight structure. Cedar, spice and leather overtones add character, but overall, I find the Justice a bit light, is especially on the mid-palate.

Moderate reduction flattens the fruit though a whiff of earth escapes the funk. Otherwise there is good freshness and verve to the more elegant and better detailed if less concentrated flavors that possess fine depth and persistence. This is a classic La Justice in that it's a Gevrey of refinement. Worth a look. (Drink starting 2024) (AM)
