Note di degustazione
The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Grandes Vignes 1er Cru is backward on the nose, the oak initially quite vocal, though it improves with aeration and evinces assiduous stem addition. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, a little rustic but full of personality. I’m not sure if this is truly long-term, but I appreciate its almost feral finish. Very fine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

(Outstanding)<br /> This too is really quite pretty and pure with its relatively high-toned aromas of various flowers, essence of red cherry and soft earth wisps. The vibrant and utterly delicious if not particularly concentrated medium weight flavors deliver possess an appealing and relatively refined mouthfeel thanks to the fine-grained tannins shaping the youthfully austere finale.
The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Grandes Vignes Rouge was showing well, unfurling in the glass with notes of dark plums, incense, dark chocolate and spices, framed by a generous application of smoky new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a decidedly elegant profile, its supple tannins cloaked in succulent fruit. Parts of this 1.12-hectare vineyard has been replanted, but Liger-Belair told me that he will use the young vines to produce a Nuits-Saint-Georges Village for sale to French restaurants until they are sufficiently mature to be included in the blend.
